Sherpa Dashain

This short trek in Helambu is a perfect fit for walking and a deep look into the culture northeast of Kathmandu Valley. Witness this amazing symbiosis between two faiths in Helambu - minus watching the sacrifices!

Mid October when the Kathmandu valley is absorbed with the Hindu festivities of Dashain in various rituals and animal sacrifices, the Buddhist monks in monasteries adjoining the valley chant prayers to atone for the sins of humans and moksha for the sacrificed animals. This is one of the most unique sights you can behold in Nepal – harmony between two great eastern philosophies
